Anchal is a women-led fair trade lifestyle brand run by two sisters (Colleen and Maggie Clines) who have a deep love for design. The two founders learned about the lack of opportunity for women in the community and the exploitive world of the commercial sex trade during their graduate seminar trip to Ajmer, India. Inspired by the economic opportunity and the region's rich textiles, Colleen and Maggie created Anchal. Their designs are a combination of traditional Indian patchwork (Kantha quilting techniques) and modern geocentric stitch patterns.
All of their fabrics are made from eco-friendly low-impact dyes, fintage fabric and GOTS certified organic fabric. Their design philosophy is to bridge the gap between consumers and each piece's maker along her journey to empowerment.
Anchal is a 501(c)3 non-profit and is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.
